Our 40th ANNUAL MIDWINTER DINNER will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 6:15 pm. The dinner is also a pre-Reunion event for our 55th Reunion (May 27–30, 2019).
WHY Kirkland? We should be at Harvard for the 40th Dinner; the Faculty Club is too expensive; and Kirkland offered us its very attractive JCR, which should help us get the turnout that this event should have. (The Sheraton Commander, which we used for the last two years, is generic Sheraton.)
PARKING: There is a parking garage at 24 Eliot Street, located across Eliot Street from the Kennedy School’s new (fancy) entrance, and across JFK Street (and a couple of stores in) from the locked gates of Kirkland House. Barry White and I will find out whether we can park free at the Broadway Garage (a bit of walk away), and we’ll let you know. As most of you know, Barry is serving as Class Treasurer (after the death last year of our long-time Treasurer, Marc Slotnick, who kept the fish-vs.-meat count for the prior 39 dinners).
This will be the 40th consecutive year we will have had this dinner (1980 was the first)—an important record in Harvard Alumni Association history, which by definition can’t be topped so long as we keep going. This dinner is an event that has provided warmth and friendship over these many years and also helps make the establishment of effective reunion committees very easy indeed.
We have retained the “split” menu, as you’ll see on the reservation form. There is always a vegetarian choice.
Please click on the link below to view and print out this year’s letter and reservation form in Adobe PDF format.
Please send in the form on the second page of the printed letter to our Harvard Class Treasurer postmarked by Friday, March 8, but note a discount for early response by Friday, February 21!
We look forward to seeing the usual great crowd on March 19!
